Timeframe set for handing over DMDK office site

T. Ramakrishnan

CHENNAI: Revenue authorities have fixed a timeframe for handing over the site housing the head office of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, for constructing a grade separator at the Koyambedu junction. The site also houses a marriage hall.

Ten days back, the authorities issued a notice to landowner Premalatha, wife of DMDK founder Vijayakant, stating that she should hand over the site within 60 days, official sources say. On December 8, the revenue officer had issued an order, awarding around Rs.8.55 crore as compensation to her.

She was requested to visit the Revenue Divisional Office, Kancheepuram, on December 18 and to receive the money by producing the original title deeds. That day, her representatives went to the office and informed the officials that they had not received the compensation order.

Subsequently, a copy of the order was given to them. There was no word from her since then, which was why the notice was issued, the sources explained.
