BERHAMPUR: Plans are on to connect district hospitals in Gajapati and Koraput with the telemedicine centre of MKCG Medical College of the city through satellite link. It will enable doctors treating patients in these remote districts of south Orissa to consult teachers at this medical college for expert guidance, says medical college principal B.K. Bastia. The instruments for the purpose have already reached the district hospitals at Paralakhmeundi and Koraput of these districts and the satellite link will be provided in a few months. This facility will enable live video chat between doctors, transfer of vital data regarding the state of a patient and even the video image of a patient.
