Farmers group stages dharna in Bijapur

BIJAPUR: A farmers group led by Shivanand Patil, Basavanabagewadi MLA, on Wednesday staged a dharna outside the compound of Jnanayogi Shivakumar Sugars Ltd. at Hirebevanur village in Indi taluk even as a court restrained Mr. Patil and six of his associates from entering the factory premises. The district civil court sanctioned injunctions against Mr. Patil, one of the nine directors of the governing body. Kamalabai Patil, Vitthal Katakdond, Ashok Biradar, Sanganagouda Biradar, Honnappa Metri and Shankar Andewadi, associates of Mr. Patil, were also served injunctions.

While Ms. Kamalabai Patil is a sitting director, Mr. Katakdond and Mr. Ashok Biradar are former directors of the factory.
