Amarinder Singh orders probe

MUKTSAR: A high-level probe has been ordered into the recovery of bodies of four children in a rice mill here and police detained several persons including a woman for questioning.

A forensic team examined the half-burnt bodies found by police on Tuesday from the abandoned mill of the former Congress MP from Faridkot, Jagmeet Brar, and picked up some evidence.

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh directed Inspector-General of Police V.K. Bhawra to thoroughly investigate the incident and submit his report "urgently."

Mr. Bhawra told PTI that some people had been detained for questioning.

He said as part of investigation some more people could be detained in order to identify the accused.

Blood strains

Ashwani Kumar, head of the forensic team, told reporters that some blood strains and sperms have been spotted on the clothes of one of victim girls, which suggests that the teenager might have been raped before she was strangulated.
