Demolition, sealing continue

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday carried out sealing and demolitions in South, Central, West and Civil Lines zones.

Property No. F-298 at Lado Sarai in South Delhi was partly demolished and partly sealed, while A-580 was partly sealed pending demolition in the same locality. Another property (F-585) was sealed in Lado Sarai.

The MCD sealed 44 commercial premises in residential areas of West Zone. Of these, 10 premises were sealed at 80-foot-wide road at Ashok Nagar from Tihar No. 2 to 40 Block Ashok Nagar and Major Deepak Tyagi Marg.

In Central Zone, eight properties were sealed at the Lodhi Road crossing of India Habitat Centre to the Lodhi Hotel flyover.

Another 26 premises were sealed on Boulevard Road from Baraf Khana Chowk to Bhagwan Dass Chowk and on Khalsa College Road (from Mall Road to Roop Nagar roundabout) in Civil Lines Zone.

DDA staffer dies

NEW DELHI: A 50-year-old Delhi Development Authority employee was found dead at Janakpuri here on Wednesday.

According to the police, Chhattarpal, a watchman with DDA, was found dead by his colleagues in the morning. He was on night duty at DDA nursery in C-2 block. There were injury marks of a sharp-edged weapon on the body, the police said.

Minor fire

NEW DELHI: A minor fire broke out at the Central Public Works Department store-cum-office in Shastri Bhavan here on Wednesday. Some official documents were gutted.

According to the Fire Service Department, the fire broke out at 7-45 p.m. and six tenders were rushed to the spot. The flames were doused within 15 minutes. The fire apparently was caused by an electric short-circuit.

Four arrested

New Delhi: With the arrest of four men, involved in thefts, police on Wednesday claimed to have averted an attempt to loot a wine shop in South Delhi.

Raju, Rajender Kumar, Rajesh and Manoj Kumar were arrested from a park near Eros Cinema in Jangpura Extension on Tuesday while planning to loot a wine shop in Defence Colony, police said.
