Plea to expedite works

Coimbatore: The ordinary meeting of the District Panchayat Council held under the chairmanship of its president C.R. Ramachandran on Wednesday resolved to request the panchayats and panchayat unions to expedite the ongoing works. Vice-Chairman of the district panchayat E. Ananthan and secretary Elangovan attended.

The meeting resolved to request the panchayats and panchayat unions to ensure that the works were completed within the fixed time.

Schemes should be mooted based on public need and the council members should recommend only for works that would meet the people's expectations. The meeting approved 11 works worth Rs. 7.15 lakh to be undertaken across the district and ratified the decision to cancel 13 works planned in the Avanashi panchayat union due to administrative reasons.
