Tension at airport

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: An anonymous letter claiming that a bomb has been planted at the airport led to tension on Thursday. A search of the airport premises proved that the claim was hoax.

The letter, pasted on a telephone junction box on Airport Road, was first noticed around 7.30 p.m. It claimed that the bomb would go off soon. A bomb disposal squad was pressed into service immediately at the airport which is under tight security.

The operation was carried out without causing any anxiety to passengers at the airport. No flight was delayed or rescheduled.

A police officer in-charge of the zone, said the search was routine and part of the anti-sabotage operation at the airport.
