BANGALORE: Six persons were killed in road accidents in the city on Wednesday. The police said Vignesh (30) was injured after a tractor hit his motorcycle on Hosur Road, near Bommanahalli service road, in Madivala traffic police station limits around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. He died at a hospital on Wednesday night. A native of Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district, Vignesh worked in a private company here. In another incident reported from the same jurisdiction, Pushpamanjari (56) was killed after a sand-laden lorry hit the motorcycle on which she was riding pillion with her husband J. Madan Kumar, an employee of Indian Institute of Management. The accident occurred on Madivala Ring Road around 6.30 p.m. on Wednesday. An injured Kumar has been admitted to hospital. The Madivala traffic police have registered a case. A pedestrian aged around 40 was killed on the spot after a lorry hit him near Chowdeshwarinagar bus stop in Peenya traffic police station limits around 9.30 p.m. on Wednesday. The body has been kept at M.S. Ramaiah Hospital Mortuary. A pedestrian was killed after a lorry hit him in the early hours of Thursday. The accident took place around 1 a.m. on Ittamadu Main Road. The dead has been identified as Prasad (32), a resident of Ittamadu. The Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police have registered a case. Two persons were killed when the scooter they were riding collided with a truck on the J.P. Nagar Ring Road in the Jayanagar police station limits on Thursday. While one of the victims died on the spot, the other person was declared dead at the hospital. The identity of the victims was not immediately available. The accident took place around 5 p.m..
Suitcase lifted
A man diverted the attention of a contractor's car driver and took away a suitcase containing Rs. 3.75 lakh cash in Jayanagar police station limits on Wednesday. The police said the contractor Giridhar Babu got down from his vehicle near a bank on 10th Main, Jayanagar. He told his driver that he would return in a few minutes and asked him to take care of the suitcase that was in the vehicle. A few minutes later, a man drew the driver's attention towards some currency notes lying on the road near the vehicle. As the driver picked up the notes, the stranger stole the suitcase from the vehicle. The Jayanagar police, who have registered a case, are questioning the driver. In a similar incident, two men diverted the attention of a doctor and stole a bag containing a few cheques and a stethoscope from his car in Tilaknagar police station limits on Wednesday evening. The police said the conmen threw a few currency notes on the road and diverted Venkatesh's attention while he was on his way to a Sub-Registrar's Office.
