NEW DELHI: Bringing together the finest in the global business of food and wine, the fifth edition of the India International Food and Wine Show is being organised at Uppal's Orchids here from January 18 to 20 with the promise of chefs from leading hotels creating culinary magic to mesmerise food lovers. As the Indian market is booming and responding to international standards, the three-day event will not just be an exhibition of the best in food and beverages but a comprehensive show that will see the participation of 17 countries. Organised by Lotus Exhibitions and Marketing Services (LEMS), it will feature seminars, talks and presentations to promote global brands to hoteliers, restaurant owners, traders, distributors, importers and owners of supermarkets. LEMS Chief Executive Officer Rajiv Malhotra said: "Our show offers a platform to people from across the world to do business in a pleasing way. The show this year will see the participation of more than 130 companies from 17 countries. While there will be country-level participation from France, Italy and South Africa, individual companies from Germany, Portugal, Spain, Singapore, the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and of course India will also take part. The show this year will see a substantially large participation of food companies." Nicolo' Tassoni Estense di Castelvecchio, Counsellor Head of the Economic and Commercial Office at the Embassy of Italy here, said that his country wants to share its wide experience in successfully running food business with Indian entrepreneurs. "Both India and Italy are true great food cultures and we can experiment by having tie-ups with Indian companies.'' Stating that it was reassuring that Italian restaurants were now opening up in India, Mr. Castelvecchio said as Italy was "the biggest producer of cheese", the Italian pavilion will showcase cheese, besides coffee, olive oil and tomato products. Counsellor-Economic in the South African High Commission Jardine Omar said his country intends to share knowledge and expertise with Indian companies so as to expand business. There will be a cooking demonstration by Chef Alfred Fahr.
