CHENNAI:
The panchromatic camera on board the ISRO's latest remote-sensing satellite, Cartosat-2, was switched on at 10.15 a.m. on Friday through a series of commands issued from the Spacecraft Control Centre of ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network in Bangalore.
An analysis of the first images received at the National Remote-Sensing Agency's Data Reception Centre at Shadnagar, near Hyderabad, confirmed the "excellent performance of the camera," an ISRO release said. The first image covered a length of about 240 km from Paonta Sahib in the Shivalik region to Delhi. Another image covered about 50 km from Radha Nagari to Sagaon in Goa before the satellite passed over the Arabian Sea.
