BANGALORE: B.V. Naidu, former Director of Software Technology Parks of India, Bangalore and Hyderabad, has joined Sem India Inc., a systems and technology development company, as its managing director. He will hold the post of the managing director of Sem India Fabcity, coming up in Hyderabad. Mr. Nadiu relinquished his post as the Director of STPI on January 1 to join Sem India. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Naidu said, "I am excited about joining the founding team of Sem India, as this gives me an opportunity to start a new chapter in the hi-tech manufacturing in India." Mr. Naidu has been credited of facilitating the growth of software exports from Bangalore from $ 5 million in 1992 to $ 10 billion now. He had held important positions such as the member of Chief Minister Task Force/ Vision Group on Information Technology and Board of IT Education Standards (BITES) besides being a founder member of International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore, (IIIT) and Karnataka IT Fund. "I am motivated to join Sem India at a time when the Union Government is about to announce the semi conductor policy, which helps me contribute to a major growth of the semi conductor industry in our country," he added. Mr. Naidu said that the demand for semi conductor products in India was likely to reach $ 40 billion by 2015.
