Ganguly banking on his experience

KOLKATA: Former captain Sourav Ganguly, who staged a comeback to the one-day side, said he would bank upon his vast experience to excel against the West Indies.

An elated Ganguly, speaking to the media at the Eden Gardens, said he would require more time to settle down.

"I will certainly need more time to settle down. At the same time I will bank on my experience to make good of this chance,'' he said.

Refusing to comment on his chances of making it to the World Cup squad, Ganguly, who also figures in the 30-member probables list, said, "let us take series by series.''

He stressed the importance of winning both the West Indies and Sri Lanka ODI series. "It is important for India to win both these series. This will enable the team to go into the World Cup with a very positive mindset and the confidence of having won limited-overs matches,'' he said.

Ganguly, who did well in the Test series in South Africa, reiterated that batsmen needed to score runs to win matches. — Special Correspondent
