ANANTAPUR: Minister for Agriculture and Civil Supplies N. Raghuveera Reddy on Thursday alleged that political parties and politicians who were unable to digest the growing popularity of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy were making an issue out of Pothireddypadu. Talking to newspersons here, he said the misconceptions and communication gaps being created on the issue of expansion of capacity of the Pothireddypadu regulator would be cleared by the Government. He said it was only a flood-flow canal and there was no chance of taking away any region's allocated water. He reiterated that the Government was committed to protect the interests of Telangana and coastal Andhra and the legitimate rights of farmers there. On the issue of rising prices of essential commodities, the Minister said the State Government was making all efforts to keep the prices under control by intervening in the market. He attributed the price rise to global phenomenon.
