Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Sri Surabharathi Sanskrit and Cultural Foundation, Bangalore, will honour two eminent persons from the world of classical music on January 15.

Violin maestro L. Subramaniam will be conferred the "Sangeeta Ratnakara" title for the year 2007 and the "Sastra Ratnakara" title will be presented to the Ashtana Vidwan of Sri Sringeri Math M.A. Nagaraja Bhatt. The award presentation ceremony will take place from 5 p.m. at Dr B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan on Miller Road and will be followed by a violin recital by Mr. L. Subramaniam.

The Foundation was started in 2002 with the support of Sri Bharathi Teertha Swamiji of Sringeri Mutt to propagate Sanskrit and traditional Indian knowledge systems.

It also conducts courses in classical music and has been recognised by the Union Ministry for Human Resources Development. The award winners last year included M. Balamuralikrishna.
