3 persons detained under NSA

Hunt stepped up for explosives dealer from Kerala


  • Vehicle carrying 30 boxes of boosters seized in November
  • The components were manufactured in Andhra Pradesh

    Chennai: Three persons arrested in connection with the seizure of boosters near Manamadurai in November last have been detained under the National Security Act. Besides this, the hunt for explosives dealer Ibrahim Kutty from Calicut has been stepped up.

    Vital clues

    The police say he could provide vital clues in the case.

    A `Q' branch CID official gave the names of the three arrested as Vijayakumar, a driver, Mydeen and Dinakaran of Irumeni. Thirty boxes containing boosters, a component for manufacturing bombs, were seized at Othakadai near Manamadurai in Sivaganga district on November 30 after the vehicle carrying them dashed against a tree and overturned. The vehicle was seized.
