Skill training in rural industries at Kumarappa Institute

COIMBATORE: The J.C. Kumarappa Institute of Rural Technology and Development, Gandhiniketan Ashram, T. Kallupatti, which is an institutional training centre of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, is offering a short-term training programme in village industries for those wishing to set up own business.

The programme that will begin on January 24 under the aegis of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, will provide the candidates training programmes varying from four days to six months.

Training in making footwear and leather goods, tailoring and embroidery, electrical works, servicing of appliances, welding and grill works, plumbing, soap making, paper conversion, spices and masala making, screen printing, book binding and bio manure and vermin compost, will be included.

Also training in subjects such as management, accountancy, costing, marketing and EDP will be imparted.

Stipend

A monthly stipend of Rs. 600 will be paid to deserving trainees. Those in the age group of 18 to 35 and who have passed SSLC and above are eligible for admission. Interested aspirants can write to the Principal of the Institute before January 20, or call 04549-272365.
