Special festival programmes on AIR

TIRUCHI: The Tiruchi Station of All India Radio will broadcast the following `Pongal' special programmes from January 14:

`Pongal Pongattum, Magizhchi Thangattum' will be broadcast from 1 p.m. to 1.45 p.m. on January 14,15 and 16. People can extend greetings and exchange their views with famous personalities. Film artiste S.Ve. Sekar and music director Gangai Amaran will participate in the programme on January 15 and 16 respectively.

On January 15, the programmes of Tiruchi AIR will commence at 5 a.m. with special nagaswaram concert by Tirupparangundram K. Ammaiyappan and K.A. Velmurugan party.

They will be accompanied by Palani K. Krishnan on thavil.

The programme has been produced by Madurai station of AIR.

A special phone-in programme, `Vilaiyadalam Vaanga,' on rural sports activities will be broadcast from rural playgrounds at 7 a.m.

Vocal concert

Vocal concert by Nithyashree Mahadevan will be on air at 9 a.m. and Tamil scholar K.P. Aravanan will deliver a special address on `Uzhave Thalai Thozhile Uyir' at 10 a.m.

Soloman Pappiah will be the moderator for the `Pongal Pattimanram' at 11 a.m.

FM channel

The FM channel of the station will introduce a new programme, `Makkal Neasa Kaavalar,' at 7 a.m. on Mondays, starting from January 15.

The Inspector General of Police, M.S. Jaffar Sait, will participate in the first programme.

On 10 a.m. that day, film artiste Visu will present a special programme `Maedaiyum Tiraiyum.'
