HYDERABAD: Reiterating its opposition to conversions, the State BJP has demanded Government action against NGOs that received foreign funds and allegedly indulged in activities encouraging change of religion. V. Jhansi Rani, party secretary, at a press conference here on Saturday alleged that some missionaries had recently taken up conversion activity in Venkatampeta village of Chintapalli mandal in Nalgonda district by alsoinducing children..
`Houses attacked'
The activity was stopped on Thursday following a visit to the village by a BJP delegation headed by women's wing chief T. Vijayalakshmi. She alleged that the missionaries on Sunday attacked the houses of several party leaders and also injured them. She said that not only had the police failed to take action against the attackers, but registered a case against the BJP leaders making the offence non-bailable.
Charge against police
Besides, they released the missionaries, she claimed. The BJP secretary demanded action against the police as well as the missionaries.
