Kalam extends festival greetings

NEW DELHI: President A.P. J. Abdul Kalam and Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat on Saturday extended their greetings to the people for Makara Sankranti and Pongal.

In his message, the President said: ``On the occasion of Makara Sankranti and Pongal, I extend my greetings and felicitations to all my fellow citizens and wish them happiness and prosperity. Makara Sankranti and Pongal are symbolic of the happiness of our people for the coming of the harvest session. May these festivals that represent India's emotional unity, continue to drive our people to work for the progress of the nation.''
