HYDERABAD: Atish scored a hat-trick to fashion Tarbund XI's 3-1 win over MCH Bistiwada in the Indira Gandhi memorial hockey tournament organised by Sports of India here. The winner led 3-0 at the break. For the losers, Wajid reduced the margin. In another match, AC Guards XI drubbed MCH Amberpet 8-0 with Imran Bin Ahmed, M.A. Aleem and Farooq Bin Yousuf scoring a brace each and Abdul Rahman and Hannan one each to complete the tally.

Chess tournament
Andhra Pradesh State open prize money chess tournament will be held at Vignan Public School (Mandapeta, East Godavari) from January 18 to 19. The event carries a prize money of Rs.25000 with the winner getting Rs.5000. Special prizes will be given to under-9 and under-14 age group players. Further details can be had from V. Cricket Star show
`Cricket Star' reality talent hunt show, also featuring the 17-year-old Pravith Kumar from Vizianagaram among the 23 selected from across the country, will be telecast from January 14 simultaneously on Doodarshan and the Zee Sports on Sundays at 11.30 am, at 8.30 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays and a weekly episode on Zee TV on Saturday from 6.30 pm, according to a press release. It maybe recalled that former India stars Robin Singh and Ajay Jadeja monitored the selections at the Vijayanand Gardens here last month before finalising the 23 players to attend a 10-week training programme at Cricket Star Academy (Mumbai). The winner of the first series of the Cricket Star India will win a one-year all-expenses paid contract with Leicestershire Country Cricket club. The final 11 contestants will also have the opportunity to participate in the global roll-out of the Cricket Star which is slated for a UK launch in 2007 summer and a subsequent launch in Pakistan.
