Two constables dismissed

KURNOOL: Two constables who allegedly abetted immoral trafficking were dismissed from service. Pullaiah, constable attached to Panyam police station and Krishnamohan Reddy of Crime Control Station here were dismissed from service, Superintendent of Police B. Malla Reddy said on Saturday.

The SP said the constables would also face criminal charges under the provisions of immoral trafficking. Six persons who were allegedly involved in the gangrape of a 17-year-old girl were arrested. The main accused Basha, who acted as pimp and Sudharani, who ran a brothel at Nandyal, were arrested. Vijayalakshmi, another brothel-keeper at Kurnool was at large.

Mr. Malla Reddy said the police would take up investigation beyond the boundaries of Kurnool district. Meanwhile, the SP rewarded two constables Mirza Ahmed and Chinnappa of rural police station for rescuing the girl.
