Modi to launch BJP `Jana Jagaran' programme

Special Correspondent

Programme to be taken up at both mandal and district level

Narendra Modi

HYDERABAD: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will launch the State BJP's 15-day `Jana Jagaran' programme in Nellore on January 27 to educate people on various problems and failures of both the State and the Centre on several fronts, including their policies.

Party spokesmen T. Rajeshwar Rao, K. Balakondaiah and N. Ramchander Rao said here on Saturday that the focus would be on price rise, failure in internal security and `appeasement' of minorities and farmers' problems such as power supply.

They said the programme to be taken up at both the mandal and district level would comprise dharnas, rallies and holding of symposia on "appeasement." While the women's morcha would form human chains against price rise, the youth-wing would collect 1 crore signatures against "non-performance" of Governments.

Criticising the State for issuing GOs 314 and 315 on granting remission to prisoners, they demanded the withdrawal of the orders, as they were intended to benefit only a few people with criminal record. . On the Supreme Court's ruling on Mohd. Afzal Guru, the main accused in the Parliament attack case, they wanted the Government to carryout the death sentence without delay.
