Governor, YSR greet people

HYDERABAD: Governor Rameshwar Thakur and Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy have greeted the people on the occasion of Sankranti, which, they said, was a major festival for Telugus.In a message, Mr. Thakur said Sankranti, the festival of harvest, occupied a significant place in the people's cultural horizon, particularly in rural areas. He hoped the festivities would bring forth noble thoughts of love, affection, amity and brotherhood among people.

In his message, Dr. Reddy wished that the festival would set the stage for a glorious future of farmers. He hoped Sankranti would usher in happy days for the people.

Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu, while conveying his greetings called for active peoples' participation in rural development. They should strive for restoration of the old glory of rural areas inspired by Makara Sankranti, he observed.
