Muraleedharan, Nirmal among leaders

KOCHI: Former National `A' player M.B. Muraleedharan and former State champion E.P. Nirmal were among the leaders after the seniors' second round of the third RSC all-Kerala open prize-money chess tournament at the Regional Sports Centre, Kadavanthra, on Saturday evening.

Ernakulam's Jithin Issac was in the top pack in the junior section while Sachith Varma and U. Sanjith were among the leaders in the sub-junior division with two points from two rounds..

P. Vijayan, the Kochi City Police Commissioner and RSC President, inaugurated the tournament.

C.H. Meghna, who won the under-7 National girls title recently, and her coach Ganesh Bhat were also felicitated and present mementoes at the opening function. — Principal Correspondent
