Special Correspondent
G. Karthikeyan
Thiruvananthapuram: Congress deputy leader in the Assembly G. Karthikeyan on Saturday said that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) rule has led to an administrative paralysis with development works grinding to a halt. Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Karthikeyan said the functioning of local self-Governments had also been affected by this administrative paralysis. The infighting in the CPI(M) had contributed to the crisis that was compounded by poor financial management and lack of vision. He said CPI(M)'s Central leadership had admitted to the impasse. He questioned the rationale of the CPI(M)'s stand that the party would be the finally arbiter of whether the State should take the Asian Development Bank loan. The CPI(M) had nothing to do with the loan and it was the Government of the day that had to decide the best course of action in the larger interests of the people, he said. He said the CPI(M) leadership had hijacked the State administration. The CPI(M) had alleged that North Indian businessmen were controlling the Congress leaders in the State. It should now disclose who was controlling the State administration, he said. The LDF Government had spent the seven months in power blaming the UDF Government for all the ills. Development was only in paper with hardly 5 per cent of the annual Plan allocation being utilised for development.
