HASSAN: Minister for Public Works and Power H.D. Revanna said on Saturday that 1,253 representations were received at Thursday's "janata darshan" and he would first settle them all before holding the next one. He said that among the representations, 42 were from those with physical disabilities, 51 were for pension, 228 for employment, 249 for Ashraya houses, 96 pertained to land disputes, 23 sought medical help, 135 were for better roads and drinking water, 43 for sites, 12 for registrations of dairy societies and 36 for ration cards. Mr. Revanna said he had asked the Deputy Commissioner to form department-wise committees to scrutinise the representations. While it would not be possible to provide employment to all, temporary appointments would be made wherever possible, he said. He said he had met Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Thursday evening and got funds released from the Chief Minister's fund for 23 applicants who had sought financial help, some for heart surgeries and some for cancer treatments.
Incentive
Mr. Revanna said he had released Rs. 50 lakh each to the Chennaraypatna and Arsikere Agricultural Produce Marketing Committees (APMCs) to provide farmers incentives of Rs. 600 per quintal of copra grown. Each farmer would be able to get incentives for a maximum of 30 quintals, he said. The Government had fixed the price for the crop at Rs. 4,700 per quintal. If the price were lower than this at any place, the APMC would give the farmers incentives of up to Rs. 600 per quintal. Farmers would have to produce their land documents to receive these incentives, he added. Mr. Revanna said that the payment of incentives to farmers was actually the responsibility of the Union Government, but as it had not come forward, the State Government had done so as it had a concern for farmers.
