NIZAMABAD: An all-party meet, held here on Saturday, decided to intensify struggle for setting up of an IIT at Basarin Adilabad district. Briefing the media, Telugu Desam Party State secretary Arkala Narasa Reddy said the committee would launch relay hunger strikes from January 17. Students, youth, women, trade unionsand intelligentsia would participate. The movement would continue till an IIT was achieved, he said and emphasised that all necessary facilities for setting up the premier institute were available at Basar.
YSR criticised
Strongly criticising Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for his alleged adamant attitude as regards the location of the IIT, he said it would be improper on his part to insist that the institute should be located in Medak district itself. Mr. Narasa Reddy said the Congress legislators from both Adilabad and Nizamabad remained silent even if the IIT, the long cherished dream of people of this region, was being dashed. A.S. Posetty (TRS), V. Gangadhar Goud (TDP), Y. Lakshminarayana (BJP), V. Krishna and Yadagiri (CPI-ML) - New Democracy, Venkat Reddy (CPI), D. Venkat (CPM) and Yedla Ramu (BSP) attended.
