Special Correspondent

`Inflation level, budgetary deficit on the rise'

Murli Manohar Joshi

CHENNAI : Senior BJP leader Murali Manohar Joshi has criticised the Central Government for its failure to contain the prices of essential commodities. Despite the Government's claim that the growth rate would soon reach double digit, there had been a steep increase in prices and unemployment among educated youths, Mr.Joshi told The Hindu here on Saturday.

Inflation was rising steadily, budgetary deficit was increasing and revenue collection was showing a downward trend. Thousands of farmers had committed suicide as they did not get remunerative price for their produce., he said.
