BHUBANESWAR: The five naxalites who were arrested by a joint police team of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa in Sundargarh district of Orissa on Friday were members of the technical wing of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and were allegedly engaged in preparing .303 guns, the police said on Saturday. At a press conference in Rourkela, the police said that the spare parts that were recovered from the possession of the Maoists could have helped the extremists in making at least 10 guns. Apart from the spare parts, the police also seized cash of Rs. 16.67 lakhs, one laptop, Maoist literature and roadmaps from them. The five Maoists were identified as Saroja alias Swati, Sneha alias Aruna, Dasaram Kannaswamy alias Babji, Mula Debendra Reddy alias Madhav and Sangeeta alias Chandrika. While Saroja and Sneha were arrested from Chhend Colony of Rourkela, the three others were arrested from Pharsatali under Brahmanitarang police station limits.
