Hamsadhwani to conduct performances abroad

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Music sabha Hamsadhwani will facilitate performances by artistes in international venues from the next year.

"From next December, our newly formed international chapter will schedule and coordinate performances in several cities in India and abroad, along with the regular performances in Chennai. This will give NRI artistes a chance to perform in Chennai and local artistes to go abroad," secretary R. Ramachandran said at the inauguration of the sabha's 17th Annual Music and Drama Festival and Nagaswaram Vidwan Thiruvengadu Subramania Pillai birth centenary celebrations on Saturday.

"Motivate youngsters"

Youngsters should be enthused to attend music concerts, and sabhas should encourage this by charging lesser ticket fees, R. Thyagarajan, chairman, Shriram Group of Companies, said.

Sukanya Sankar, trustee, Sruti Foundation; and N. Kumar, vice-chairman, Sanmar Group, were present.

The inauguration was followed by a nagaswaram concert by Tiruppambaram T.K.S. Swaminathan and T.K.S. Meenakshisundaram.
