SCR to open 25 more ticket counters

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Faced by fierce criticism from the commuters over the failure to operate more ticket counters on the occasion of Sankranti festival, the South Central Railway is now operating 25 additional ticket counters from Saturday at Secunderabad Railway station.

This is apart from deployment of ten travelling ticket examiners, who will also be issuing tickets on the spot on Secunderabad station premises. These special counters will be operated till the holiday rush is cleared, said a chief spokesman.

In a bid to avoid over-crowding and chaos at Nampally and Secunderabad railway stations even during normal days, authorities have decided to issue general compartment tickets at all the 24 MMTS station premises for outstation travel.

The general compartment tickets can be booked three days in advance, the officials said.
