Kingfisher Airlines to fly to city from Monday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Bangalore-based Kingfisher Airlines would commence flight operations to the State capital from Monday (January 15) by operating flights in the Bangalore-Thiruvananthapuram sector.

The airline is deploying twin turbo prop short haul aircraft of Italian-French based Avions de Transport Regional (ATR) 72 for the daily flight operations in the Bangalore-Thiruvananthapuram-Bangalore sector.

A top official of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has already cleared the flight operations of the airline to Thiruvananthapuram airport. The airline has also informed the airport authorities that they would start flights from January 15.

The ATR 72, piloted by a two-member crew, can carry a maximum of 66 passengers. The airline would be operating flights in the morning and evening between Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram. Already, the airline is operating flights from different cities to Nedumbassery international airport.

Sources said the commencement of flights by the airline would increase the air connectivity to and from Thiruvananthapuram. As per the schedule released by Kingfisher Airlines, the IT 2411 flight from Bangalore would depart every day at 6.40 a.m. to reach Thiruvananthapuram international airport at 8.10 a.m. In the return direction, the IT 2412 flight would depart from Thiruvananthapuram at 8.40 a.m. and would reach Bangalore at 10.10 a.m.

The IT 2413 flight would depart from Bangalore at 6.30 p.m. to reach Thiruvananthapuram at 8 p.m. In the return direction, the IT 2414 flight would depart from Thiruvananthapuram international airport at 8.30 p.m. to reach Bangalore at 10 p.m.
