Marriage meet for disabled

ERODE: Over 80 persons with physical disability attended the marriage meet for the disabled here on Sunday, and a few also chose their life partners. It was organised by the Lions Club of Erode Fort, Erode District Physically Challenged Association, Yali Mineral Water and Sun TV Kalyanamalai Wing.

Not a curse

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Women Empowerment Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan who inaugurated the programme said disability was not a curse.

Those with no physical disability should come forward to marry those with disabilities, the Minister said. V. Mohan from Kalyanamalai said the disabled could approach him to register free of cost on a website created for the purpose.

President of Erode District Physically Challenged Association M. Palanisamy and former president of Lions Club of Erode Fort Karunanidhi spoke.
