BANGALORE: Writers, academics and journalists remembered the contributions of the veteran journalist, G.S. Sadashiva to the fields of journalism, theatre and literature. Sadashiva passed away in Bangalore on January 9 after a brief illness. At a condolence meeting held here on Sunday, Sadashiva's childhood friends and colleagues remembered him as a soft-spoken individual who spoke little but contributed much through his works. Paying rich tributes to Sadashiva, writer Narayan Raichur said that the plays written by the late journalist could be adapted for theatre or electronic medium. His interest in cultural affairs was well known, he added. Madhyama Academy Chairman V.N. Subba Rao said though he did know Sadashiva personally well, he had heard good things from people who knew him well.
Tributes
Sadashiva's childhood friend and former Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University M.S. Thimmappa recalled his long association with the writer from the schooldays in Sagar, Shimoga district. Among others who paid him rich tributes included former colleagues M.K. Bhaskar Rao and Jayaram Adiga, and writer G.K. Govind Rao. Meanwhile, a number of Kannada writers, artistes and academicians paid rich tributes to the senior journalist in New Delhi.
Award
According to a release from Dehali Kannadiga, Sadashiva started a new era in Kannada journalism, and has announced institution of an award in memory of Sadashiva.
