SRINAGAR:
The Union Ministry for Water Resources will release a grant of around Rs. 5,000 crore under the Prime Minister's special programme to tackle the irrigation crisis in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Mahrashtra which witnessed a spate of farmers' suicides.
Union Minister for Water Resources Saifuddin Soz said here on Sunday that 20 major events had been chalked out for the year.
"The focus will be on quality of water and irrigation facilities for farmers," he said at a press conference.
