Special train for Ardh Kumbh

NEW DELHI: For the convenience of pilgrims planning to visit Allahabad for the Ardh Kumbh Mela, Northern Railway will be running a special train between New Delhi and Allahabad till January 26. The 0259 Allahabad-New Delhi special train will depart from Allahabad on January 17, 19, 21, 23 and 25 at 11-45 p.m. to reach Delhi the next day at 11-55 a.m. Similarly, the 0260 New Delhi- Allahabad special train will depart New Delhi on January 15, 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26 at 10-45 p.m. to reach Allahabad the next day at 9-50 a.m. The train will have stoppages at Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Tundla, Firozabad, Shikohabad, Etawah, Kanpur Central and Fatehpur.

Proposal to involve RWAs in MCD polls

NEW DELHI: Following the successful meeting with political leaders from the main parties, Residents' Welfare Associations in the Capital are preparing a procedure through which RWAs could be involved by political groups in candidate selection for different wards in the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi polls.

The proposal was mooted recently at a meeting organised by advocacy group People's Action along with members of non-government organisations and trade unions under the aegis of New Delhi People's Alliance.

Killing condemned

NEW DELHI: The executive committee of Jawaharlal Nehru University Teachers' Association (JNUTA) has condemned the recent killing of Baghdad University Professors' Union president Essami al Rawi by U.S. forces in Iraq.
