Flesh trade racket busted

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: The Anantapur police on Sunday raided a brothel house in Ramachandra Nagar area here and arrested five people, including a couple, allegedly running the flesh trade racket and three girls allegedly involved in it.

Giving the details to mediapersons, Anantapur DSP G.S. Karunakar said a couple from Garladinne in the district, Narasimhulu and Laxmidevi, had taken a portion on rent in the residential area and had been running a brothel house by getting girls from Chirala, Kurnool, Mahabubnagar and other places in the State.

Acting on a tip off, the police led by One Town SI Shubha Kumar raided the house.

Narasimhulu said he was a milk vendor in the past and had acquired AIDS with his habit of frequenting prostitutes. Laxmidevi said they had taken to the `business' as they had no other go to meet the medical expenditure of her husband.
