Lakshmi Devi, B. Jaya, M.P. Shankar felicitated

Kala Degula to be built in memory of Rajkumar

Bangalore: The Karnataka Film Artistes' Society, which organised a function as part of the Suvarna Karnataka celebrations here, felicitated film personalities with a citation, shawl, sandalwood garland and gold rings. Prominent among those who were feted were N. Lakshmi Devi, M.P. Shankar, B. Jaya, Shantamma, K.M. Ratnakar, B.M. Venkatesh and Shani Mahadevappa.

Actors Vishnuvardhan, Srinath, Devaraj, Sunder Raj, Tara, Jayanti, B. Saroja Devi and Pramila Joshai were present.

Mr. Srinath, who felicitated the artistes, announced that the society had plans to build a Kala Degula (a temple of art) in memory of the thespian, the late Rajkumar in the city where the film artistes could promote the interests of those contributing to the development of the field. An action committee for the purpose was also announced. Chandrasekhar Kambar, MLC and poet, inaugurated the function.
