This Day That Age
Mr. Nehru expressed his disapproval of the change of venue of the annual convocation of the Viswa Bharati from the traditional mango grove to Uttarayan in front of the residence of Rabindranath Tagore. He commented during his convocation address on January 15: "I suppose this is the inevitable progress that we have achieved. Unfortunately, progress is not always in the right direction. I do wish that we go back to the grove. This departure may take us further and further away from the grove." Since the establishment of the institution in 1921, all annual convocations were held in the mango grove and for the first time the venue was changed this year.
