Minister advised against contesting CAB polls

KOLKATA: CPI(M) State committee secretary Biman Bose has advised Sport Minister Subash Chakravarty against contesting the elections to the post of president of the Cricket Association of Bengal.

Mr. Chakravarty, now in Bangalore, expressed his desire to contest the elections to Mr. Bose over the phone. "When he told me that he wants to contest, I told him: `Subash, you cannot contest,'" Mr. Bose said hereon Tuesday.

"We function collectively and not individually... We cannot always do what we want to do," Mr. Bose said. The matter of Mr. Chakravarty's candidature would have to be discussed within the party.
