VIJAYAWADA : The premises of the N.S.M Public School at Patamata bustled with activity on Sunday evening, as members of the Kerala Club transformed the place into a `mini Kerala'. The steady stream of families, with many clad in traditional white silk robes, culminated in a congregation that rejoiced and celebrated their togetherness in a home away from home. Keralites from different walks of life assembled at the venue to share Christmas and New Year greetings in a traditional way. Joint Collector S. Suresh Kumar said it was good that the community had managed to remain one even in an alien land. He said that besides promoting peace and harmony, such gatherings would help people stay connected and work in coordination with one another. He advised the members to work in coordination with the locals and extend their full support to them. Director of Eluru-based Andhra Mission G. Varghese Thomas and retired professor of Aligarh Muslim University Shaik Masood were guests of honour. Club president Damodharam and convenor Sunil Kumar welcomed the guests. The inaugural function was followed by cake-cutting ceremony by children, who, later, enthralled the audience with their scintillating performances in a cultural show.
