KOCHI: Network Systems and Technologies (Private) Limited (NeST), global engineering software services wing of the NeST group of companies, has set up an Offshore Development Centre (ODC) for Fujitsu VLSI Limited, Japan, for rendering dedicated VLSI design services. Under the agreement between the companies, Fujitsu will outsource VLSI development works to NeST, said a release here. The alliance complements NeST's desire to move up the value chain of high technology markets by providing value-added services to its clients, said the release. Toshimasa Wada, executive vice-president, Electronic Devices, Fujitsu, said that NeST came as a natural choice for the company due to its track record in the high technology market and technical capability. Hitoshi Takahashi, president & CEO, Fujitsu VLSI Limited, said that NeST's offshore delivery capability, presence in Japan, robust processes and flexible operational model were instrumental in making the company Fujitsu's natural partner. Javad Hassan, chairman of the NeST group, said that the semi-conductor industry was poised for tremendous growth globally. The developed world was increasingly considering India as a destination for supporting them with creative ideas and high-end technical expertise, he said.
