MYSORE: An intensive and summary revision of the voters' list in three assembly constituencies of Mysore city-Chamaraja, Krishnaraja and Narasimharaja-began on Tuesday with the Corporation deploying 661 personnel for the exercise. In all, 439 enumerators and 222 supervisors, who recently underwent training, will go door-to-door and conduct a census of eligible voters. The house visits will conclude on February 15 after which tabulation of data will start. The draft voters' list will be published and displayed and objections will be invited from the public to facilitate corrections. The draft list will be displayed from March 12 to April 2 and people can submit applications for corrections. The revised list will be published on May 28. Addressing a press conference in connection with the revision of the voters' list here, Commissioner of Mysore City Corporation K.N. Chandrashekar explained that the revision of the list would be conducted in two manners-an intensive revision and summary revision. "While the summary revision is carried out every year, the intensive revision takes place once in five years with enumerators going door-to-door to revise the list," he said. The last intensive revision of voters' list took place in 2002 while the summary revision was carried out in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006, Mr. Chandrashekar said. The ensuing exercise envisaged intensive and summary revision of voters' list according to directions of the Election Commission of India. The commission was particular that there be no loopholes in the revised list, he said. The revised list would include those who had crossed 18 years before January 1, 2007. The enumerators, who would have copies of the draft voters' list in Kannada and English, would make changes. All eligible voters left out from the list in the previous exercise would be included, he added. Enumerators would delete the names of voters who had died or shifted residence. Mr. Chandrashekar appealed to voters to cooperate with the enumerators and supervisors by providing bonafide information.
