TIRUPATI: A request has been made to the TTD to recruit ex-servicemen to handle the sensitive security jobs at all vulnerable places at Tirumala and Tirupati as well. A retired Army Captain and presently the propaganda secretary of the BJP's Chittoor district unit, Capt. (retd) K. R. Raja Reddy, has in a representation, said ex-servicemen in the age-group of 30-45 years, who are professionally trained in all sensitive military operations, should be considered for the crucial security job in the context of the deteriorating security atmosphere in the country and the sounding of red alert to the Tirumala temple by the security agencies. He has questioned the propriety of the TTD in recruiting private security personnel for the job when there are 16,000 ex-servicemen enrolled as members in the District Sainik Welfare Office and are available in the Chittoor district alone. He opines, to the extent possible, ex-servicemen from the district or from Rayalaseema must be preferred for the job in the TTD.
