11 illegal commercial properties sealed

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Tuesday sealed 11 illegal commercial properties in the city.

Four premises were sealed in Civil Lines Zone. The sealing action was carried out on Sham Nath Marg between ISBT Kashmere Gate and I.P. College; on Alipur Road from I.P. College crossing to Khyber Pass; and on Bela Road between Yamuna Bazar and Chandgi Ram Akhara. In Shahdara-South Zone, seven premises were sealed on the stretch between Manak Vihar and Jagriti Temple. Since November 8, the MCD has sealed a total of 5,079 properties.

Water supply to be affected

NEW DELHI: Because of repairs being carried out to the North West mains at TV Tower Pitampura in the Capital, water supply will be affected on Wednesday in Harsh Vihar, Lok Vihar, Nimari Colony, Bharat Nagar, some parts of Pitampura, Ashok Vihar Phases I, II and III, Rampura, Lawrence Road and command area of Lawrence Road booster station.

Water supply will also be affected between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Thursday in Greater Kailash Part II, Alaknanda, DDA flats Kalkaji, Govindpuri Extension, Chittaranjan Park and Masjid Moth.

Showcasing Akre's paintings

NEW DELHI: To mark Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to India, a fortnight-long painting and drawing retrospective of Surjit Akre opened at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) here over the weekend.

Speaking on the occasion, RCSC Director Fyodor A. Rozovskiy said considering the importance that art plays in inspiring society in different ways, Ms. Akre had made immense contributions in bringing closer the cultures of Russia and India.

Ms. Akre, who is president of Roerich's Art Society, received her postgraduate degree from the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in St. Petersburg.

DUJ demands interim relief

NEW DELHI: Welcoming the announcement of a Wage Board for the newspaper industry, the Delhi Union of Journalists has demanded that interim relief be given to journalists at the earliest. It has also called for constitution of a Media Commission that would bring in its ambit electronic journalism in all its forms as well as the print media. The DUJ announced that it would set up a 16-member Gender Council to address equality issues.
