MANGALORE: The registration number of the motorcycle, abandoned some distance away from the spot where Mulki Rafique, the prime accused in Sukhananda Shetty murder case was killed on Sunday, is found to be fake. The police had seized a black Yamaha bearing registration number KA-19 J-1230. The police said a person had dropped Rafique at Udupi Railway Station on that vehicle on Sunday. B. Dayananda, Superintendent of Police, said that the registration number was found to be fake based on enquiries made with Regional Transport Office here. Mr. Dayananda said the police have not been able to ascertain the identity of the person who dropped Rafique. A. Subramanyeshwara Rao, Superintendent of Police, Udupi district, said that the accused had erased the engine and chassis number from the motorcycle.
