BHUBANESWAR: The city police on Tuesday detained a person who allegedly kidnapped his own son. The accused, Purnachandra Mohapatra, a resident of Sahid Nagar area, allegedly kidnapped his seven-year-old son Pupun on Saturday and handed him over to a woman whom he loved. According to the police, the accused thought his wife would get depressed and commit suicide, enabling him to marry his co-worker. Purnachandra, who worked in a printing press, allegedly sent the child to Kendrapara, 90 km from here, with his lover. He was not even ready to lodge a complaint with police. But under pressure from relatives he went to Sahid Nagar Police Station. However, the man was caught while allegedly charting his future course of action with his lover.
