BANGALORE:
Chief Minister H.D.Kumaraswamy and five others had a providential escape when the Dhruv helicopter of HAL in which they were travelling to Bijapur suddenly developed technical problems while flying over Tumkur.
It was mentioned that the pilots who noticed a warning light on the dashboard had two choices--either to land the helicopter in an open space or to return to base at HAL.
They chose the later and safely landed the helicopter at HAL about 30 minutes after take-off.
Mr. Kumaraswamy told The Hindu, "It was a providential escape. I am thankful to god".
The helicopter was a little unstable giving the VIP passenger some tense moments until it landed.
The Chief Minister was to attend a string of programmes in Bijapur before returning to Bangalore in the evening.
Among those accompanying the Chief Minister was the officer on special duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister, B.N.Krishnaiah.
