  • Children try to break open detonator

HYDERABAD: Two children died after a detonator exploded in a hut at M. K. Pally in Moinabad on Monday afternoon.

The blast occurred when D. Eshwar Rao, P. Jyothi and her brothers Ramu and Laxman, all below three years, went inside an abandoned hut on the backyard of their houses and played with a detonator.

While Eshwar died on the spot, Jyothi succumbed to injuries at the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on Tuesday.

Ramu and Laxman, who suffered severe injuries, were battling for life at the OGH.

Narsingi Inspector K. Rambupal Rao said that the children picked up the detonator and hit it hard on the ground in an attempt to break it.

Twenty unused electrical wires were also found in the hut.

Based on a complaint lodged by Eshwar's father Dharma Rao, a case of negligence under Section 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code and Explosives Act was registered.

    East Godavari district

Efforts were on to trace the person who stored the explosive substances in the hut.

Dharma Rao and other families who came from their native East Godavari district were workers at an under construction private hospital.

    Boy killed

An eleven-year boy died after falling from the first floor of a building in front of his house at Indiranagar in Khairatabad on Monday.

    P. Srikanth, a class III student of Saraswathi Vidya Mandir in Khairatabad, was flying kites along with his friend when he slipped from the building and suffered grievous head injuries.

His parents Vijaykumar and Lalitha shifted him to the Osmania General Hospital(OGH) where he died later while undergoing treatment.

The police registered a case and handed over the boy's body to his relatives after conducting an autopsy at the OGH.
