THE CITY is getting crowded with VVIPs from overseas. It is not only the President of Portugal, a country with long historic ties with our country, coming for the CII Partnership Summit will be Britain's Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown, reaching here Wednesday. Apart from the mandatory visit to our hi-tech majors such as Wipro and Biocon, Mr. Brown's visit assumes more significance.

Those in the know inform us that he is the man tipped to most likely success Tony Blair as Prime Minister of the U.K. Mr. Blair himself attended the last summit to be held here, in 2002.
